Darren is an experienced industry professional, having worked across numerous sports organisations throughout his career. Included within this experience is 8 years at The ÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û Association, 5 years for The ÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û League, together with Charlton Athletic and The ÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û Association of Ireland. Additionally, Darren served as Director of Marketing and Communications for England Squash.

In addition to this experience, he sits as Senior Independent Non- Executive Director of the British Orienteering Federation, and a Director of Bury FC.

Teaching & research interests

With Darren ‘s experience of the football and sports industry, he uses real life examples in his teaching to bring out key teaching and learning points. Areas of expertise are football business operations, marketing and communications, and football governance and the structure of the game.

His research interests are around the inter-relationship between National and Regional governing bodies, identifying key factors in organisational waste and how this affects the development of sport.
